My journey with illustration has been a long and winding one with lots of different opportunities and new things to be learned along the way. I have loved every minute of it!
I have been involved in studying and working in illustration since I began my journey at Harlow Technical College. I studied Book Design and Production and Design for Printing and I have found that this has given me a solid grounding in how to approach all the commissions that have been sent to me.
I went on to study HND Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in the 1980s and this is where I truly fell in love with the world of illustration. It was an exciting time to be studying and there was a lot of creative energy around - I have never lost this sense of excitement and fun when it comes to a new project.
I returned to Cambridge School of Art to study for my MA in Children's Book Illustration in 2008. Up until then I had spent my time on regular commissions for The Girl Guide Association, The Readers Digest, Zigzag Publishing as well as private commissions and exhibitions. I also worked as a Gallery Assistant at The Playhouse Gallery in Harlow, got involved in artistic projects with them and also with Harlow Ballet Association and their stage productions.
It was on completing my MA in 2011 that I joined The Bright Agency and while I was with them I worked on many educational books which have appeared all over the world. The thought that children around the world are reading the books that I illustrated makes me very happy.
Over the last year I have taken some time out to work on other projects. With these completed I am now ready to launch myself back into the world of illustration!
